Goals of the Meeting
 
To address observed laboratory-related challenges in HIV surveillance and formulate new strategies to improve practiced laboratory methods.

Objectives:
  • To review current approaches in laboratory support for HIV surveillance and identify potential sources of laboratory-based errors
  • To propose approaches and formulate recommendations for the improvement of the quality of laboratory test results

  • Suggestions for revision of the WHO/UNAIDS/CDC/USAID guidelines for "Using HIV Testing Technologies in Surveillance"
  • Checklist of potential errors and how to prevent them
