Campaign for Affordable Housing Meets with HUD

In HUD's effort to stimulate a national movement toward reducing regulatory barriers, the Department met with The Campaign for Affordable Housing in an effort to learn more about how to educate local communities on creative ways to support the production of affordable housing. In a presentation to the AACI team, the Campaign's executive director, Julie Bornstein, outlined her organization's public education efforts to change the mindset of Americans who continue to believe the myths about affordable housing. Unfortunately, many local officials believe affordable housing is substandard, unsightly and negatively impacts surrounding property values. Unlike these stereotypes, Bornstein argues that today's affordable housing is attractive, indistinguishable from other homes and is very likely located right in your community.
