PMF Class of 2008 Orientation and Training Program

PMF Class of 2008 Orientation and Training Program

COPY OF EMAIL SENT TO 2008 FINALISTS/FELLOWS VIA THEIR PERSONAL AND WORK EMAIL ADDRESSES, IF APPLICABLE:

Congratulations on your selection as a PMF finalist! Also, congratulations to those of you who have been appointed as a Fellow!

The U.S. Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) Eastern Management Development Center (EMDC), located in Shepherdstown, WV, is pleased to host your Class of 2008 PMF Orientation and Training Program.

To accommodate varying schedules, the PMF Program has three orientation sessions. Fellows may register for only one session; however, if room is available and at least 48-hour notice is given, you may re-schedule to another session. The three sessions are scheduled for:

Session 1: October 14-16, 2008 (Tuesday - Thursday)
Session 2: November 12-14, 2008 (Wednesday - Friday)
Session 3: January 21-23, 2009 (Wednesday - Friday)

Because of the divergent timing of finalists’ placement within Federal agencies, all finalists are being notified about the upcoming orientation dates - even if they have not yet been appointed or have not started in their positions as Fellows. Finalists who have started their placements (now known as Fellows) and those who plan to begin work with a Federal agency before the orientation sessions will be eligible to register for orientation. Finalists awaiting appointment should reference this memo for future registration. This enables those who are appointed in Federal agencies to quickly and easily finalize plans to attend one of the orientation sessions.

For Class of 2007 Fellows who did not attend a 2007 Orientation Session, you may use the online registration link to register and attend a 2008 Orientation Session, but please indicate you are a “Class of 2007 Fellow” during registration. Attending an Orientation Session is not mandatory, but successful completion provides you 24 hours of formal classroom training and may apply to your Individual Development Plan.

Please note that Fellows will only be able to complete the registration process and attend an orientation session after their agencies have reimbursed OPM for their appointment. Fellows should consult with their Agency PMF Coordinators and their Supervisors to ensure that reimbursement has been made.

Registration consists of two phases:

Phase 1: Completion of the Online Registration Form located under the "Training\Orientation" webpage to select the preferred session.

To complete the registration process, the following information is required:
1. Fellow’s complete work contact information including:
a. Work Address
b. Email Address
c. Phone Number
d. Fax Number
2. Agency PMF Coordinator's name, email address, and phone number
3. Supervisor's name, email address, and phone number
4. Date and number of additional nights (if needed)
5. Date and time of shuttle service (if needed)

Phase 2: Confirmation will be sent after verification of your agency’s reimbursement and upon submission will complete the registration process to confirm hotel room nights, submit travel arrangements, state meal preferences, and notify the staff of any special accommodations.

Please review the “Orientation Overview” before arriving at your confirmed session.

The dress code for all sessions is business casual.
Remember, you will be representing your agency and yourself as a Presidential Management Fellow.

Complete information about the orientation and training program's theme, registration process, and lodging and travel details can be found under the "Training\Orientation" webpage.

We look forward to meeting you at orientation and extending to you our congratulations on your selection as a Class of 2008 Fellow. Please note, Class of 2008 finalists have until April 1, 2009, to obtain an appointment. If a finalist obtains an appointment after the last 2008 orientation session, he/she would be eligible to register for a 2009 session.
