Laboratory of Pharmacology

Research Summary

The Laboratory of Pharmacology utilizes the approaches and techniques of pharmacology, biochemistry, molecular biology to study the following topics:

  • Processes that determine the disposition of environmental chemicals within the body
  • Enzyme systems involved in metabolism of environmental chemicals and drugs including their genetic heterogeneity
  • Mechanisms responsible for the toxic effects of xenobiotics and their metabolism including photochemical and free radical mechanisms
Laboratory of Pharmacology

The Laboratory of Pharmacology — headed by Laboratory Chief John B. Pritchard — also provides a focus within NIEHS for the application of alternative model systems from comparative and marine biology to study the pharmacology and toxicology of chemicals and drugs.
