Invited speakers include experts from professional and community organizations, academia, and government agencies that will discuss the barriers women of color experience when seeking medical diagnoses, management, and treatment. The pre-conference will address challenges regarding access, availability, and services to women of color with disabilities:
- Barriers to appropriate health care, specialized medical personnel and equipment, as well as culturally sensitive and competent healthcare professionals and facilities.
- Limited and anecdotal research and data on women of color with disabilities.
- Misdiagnosis, mismanagement and under-treatment of women of color with disabilities.
