Description: The conference will bring together leading experts, both from research and operational meteorological environments. It is intended this conference be a first step towards an ongoing international focus on potential impact of climate change in the Indian Ocean. The proceedings will be published as a WMO Publication. The purpose of the conference is to discuss the science related to climate change and tropical cyclones around the globe, with an emphasis on the Indian Ocean. Topics of the conference will include those related to current status of operational tropical cyclone forecasting and early warning systems, tropical cyclone genesis, assessment of risk and vulnerability from tropical cyclones and disaster preparedness, management and reduction.
