The IRI/LDEO Climate Data Library contains over 300 datasets from a variety of earth science disciplines and climate-related topics. It is a powerful tool that offers the following capabilities at no cost to the user:
  • access any number of datasets;
  • create analyses of data ranging from simple averaging to more advanced EOF analyses;
  • monitor present climate conditions with maps and analyses in the Maproom;
  • create visual representations of data, including animations;
  • download data in a variety of commonly-used formats, including GIS-compatible formats.

What's New
Aug 08-The Extended Reconstructed Sea Surface Temperature (ERSST) Version 3 dataset, using the most recently available ICOADS SST data and improved statistical methods for a stable reconstruction for 1854 to present, has been added.
Aug 08-ETOPO2v2 and ETOPO1 global gridded elevation/bathymetry datasets have been added.
Aug 08-The latest monthly (June 2008) and pentad (June 2008) releases of the CPC Merged Analysis of Precipitation (CMAP) have been added.
Jul 08- VIC hydrologic cycle model dataset, including monthly evapotranspiration, soil moisture, precipitation, and runoff for the globe, has been added.
Jul 08-Global Precipitation Climatology Centre (GPCC) Full Data Product Version 4 gridded precipitation data and Version 2008 precipitation climatology (focused on 1951-2000 base period) data, based upon station observations, have been added.
Jul 08-NOAA optimum interpolation 1/4 degree daily sea surface temperature analysis, version 1 has been added.
Jun 08-A dataset of reference evapotranspiration from the U.N. Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), prepared according to the FAO Penman-Monteith method has been added.
