Welcome to the FEMA Hurricane Liaison Team. In this room, the National Weather Service and Federal Emergency Management Agency serve to bridge communications between the National Hurricane Center and emergency managers.
The team is activated when a hurricane threatens the United States or its territories. This room is a mini-television studio. But instead of broadcasting over the air, it broadcasts through local area networks in the form of video-teleconferences to respond to emergency management questions and concerns.
In this way, State and Federal Emergency Managers can be briefed directly about a hurricane threat and receive the most up to date information to assist in their decision making.
