Industrial Control Security Testbed

NIST Engineer, Joe Falco is seen programming a controller on the NIST Industrial Control Security Testbed. The testbed is being used as a platform for developing performance metrics and tests that industry can use to mitigate potential problems encountered during the deployment of security software and hardware in industrial control system environments. This factory control testbed module, designed to resemble a bottling plant, has the capability to be interfaced to three independent controllers. The controllers include a hardware based Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), a software based PLC running on a PC platform, and a Hybrid Control System (HCS) all interfaced through DeviceNet, an intelligent control networking technology.
