Following are safety and health products developed by OSHA's Alliance Program participants to provide information to employers and employees on specific industries or hazards covered by the Alliances. Aerial Devices and Elevating Equipment

Through the OSHA and Altec Alliance, Altec developed "Operator Training for Elevating Equipment – General Training Guidance." The document provides information to help employers identify the training recommended for employees on the inspection and operation of elevating equipment. (2008, January)
  • Protect Yourself: Aerial Devices - Vehicle-Mounted Elevating & Rotating Work Platforms [PDF - 724 KB]. Through the OSHA and Altec Alliance, Altec developed "Protect Yourself: Aerial Devices - Vehicle-Mounted Elevating & Rotating Work Platforms." The document provides information to help employers inform their employees about the hazards with working on aerial devices and identifies guidelines for employees to follow. (2008, January)

  • Principles of Biosafety Fact Sheet [PDF - 57 KB]. Through the OSHA and American Biological Safety Association (ABSA) Alliance, ABSA developed "Principles of Biosafety Fact Sheet." The Fact Sheet provides laboratory employees with safety information through twelve valuable rules of biosafety. (2008, April)
  • BioSafety Levels (US) [PDF - 88 KB]. Through the OSHA and American Biological Safety Association (ABSA) Alliance, ABSA developed "BioSafety Levels (US)." The document describes the four levels of biosafety. (2008, April)
  • Select Agent Diseases Fact Sheet [PDF - 367 KB]. Through the OSHA and American Biological Safety Association (ABSA) Alliance, ABSA developed "Select Agent Diseases Fact Sheet." The Fact Sheet provides laboratory employees with a reference tool that includes the symptoms, transmission and treatment, for some of the most commonly encountered pathogens or biological toxins that are federally regulated and have the potential to pose a severe threat to public health and safety.   • Zoonotic Diseases Fact Sheet [PDF - 478 KB]. Through the OSHA and American Biological Safety Association (ABSA) Alliance, ABSA developed "Zoonotic Diseases Fact Sheet." The Fact Sheet provides laboratory employees with a reference tool that includes the symptoms, transmission and treatment for some of the most commonly encountered diseases that are generally found in animals but can be spread to humans.   • Safety Tip Sheet No. 1: Slips, Trips and Fall Injuries [DOC* - 30 KB]. Through the OSHA and International Carwash Association (ICA) Alliance, ICA developed "Safety, Tip Sheet No. 1: Slips, Trips and Fall Injuries." The Tip Sheet provides employers and employees with information about the possible causes of slips, trips and fall injuries and how the injuries can be prevented. (2007, February)

  • ISSA Safety and Health Portal. Through the OSHA and ISSA Alliance, ISSA developed the ISSA Safety and Health Portal. The Web page includes ISSA Occupational Safety and Health Topics Pages for the cleaning industry on: Bloodborne Pathogens; Cleaning Chemicals in the Workplace (Hazard Communication); Injury & Illness Recordkeeping; Personal Protective Equipment (PPE); and Slips, Trips and Falls in the Workplace.   • Minimizing Slips, Trips and Falls [PDF - 52 KB]. Through the OSHA and ISSA Alliance, ISSA developed "Minimizing Slips, Trips and Falls." The checklist provides information to help minimize slip, trip and fall incidents. (2007, April)
  • Preventing Slips, Trips and Falls for Custodians [PDF - 54 KB]. Through the OSHA and ISSA Alliance, ISSA developed "Preventing Slips Trips and Falls for Custodians." The article presents a checklist of common causes for slips, trips and falls and practical tips for avoiding these types of workplace incidents. (2007, April)

  • CSDA Best Practices for Sawing and Drilling Operations: Highway Workzone Safety Checklist [PDF - 86 KB]. Through the OSHA and Concrete Sawing and Drilling Association (CSDA) Alliance, CSDA developed "CSDA Best Practices for Sawing and Drilling Operations: Highway Workzone Safety Checklist." The Checklist identifies hazards associated with sawing and cutting adjacent to a highway workzone and safe work practices to help reduce or eliminate the risk of injuries or illnesses.   • Safe Tank Entry: When Entering Aboveground Storage Tanks [PDF - 189 KB]. Through the OSHA and Safe Tank Alliance and the OSHA and Independent Lubricant Manufacturers Association (ILMA) Alliance, the Safe Tank participants and ILMA developed "Safe Tank Entry: When Entering Aboveground Storage Tanks." Through the OSHA and Crane, Hoist and Monorail Alliance, the Crane, Hoist and Monorail participants developed "Fact Sheet No. 1: Proper Inspection and Maintenance of Overhead Cranes and Hoists." The Fact Sheet provides information for employers and employees on standards, reference manuals and safety tips for the application and operation of overhead material handling equipment.     • Fact Sheet No. 2: Hoists, Cranes, Pullers - Safety & Warning Labels and Test Certification [DOC* - 89 KB]. Through the OSHA and Crane, Hoist and Monorail Alliance, the Crane, Hoist and Monorail participants developed "Fact Sheet No. 2: Hoists, Cranes, Pullers – Safety & Warning Labels Test Certification.". The Fact Sheet provides information to employers and employees concerning items that operators and inspectors need to know when purchasing, installing or using hoist, crane and puller equipment.   • Safety Tips Sheets
    • Safety Tips Sheet No. 1: Proper Use of Hand Signals for Cab-Controlled Cranes [DOC* - 300 KB]. Through the OSHA and Crane, Hoist and Monorail Alliance, the Crane, Hoist and Monorail participants developed "Safety Tips Sheet No. 1: Proper Use of Hand Signals for Cab-Controlled Cranes." The Tips Sheet provides information for employees regarding nine industry standard hand signals that are used for communication between the operator in the crane’s cab and the floor person.     • Safety Tips Sheet No. 2: Pre-Operational Equipment Check of Cranes and Hoists [DOC* - 82 KB]. Through the OSHA and Crane, Hoist and Monorail Alliance, the Crane, Hoist and Monorail participants developed "Safety Tips Sheet No. 2: Pre-Operational Equipment Check of Cranes and Hoists." The Tips Sheet provides information for employees regarding a pre-operational equipment checklist for cranes and hoists. (2006, September)
    • Safety Tips Sheet No. 3: Safe Lifting Practices [DOC* - 87 KB]. Through the OSHA and Crane, Hoist and Monorail Alliance, the Crane, Hoist and Monorail participants developed "Safety Tips Sheet No. 3: Safe Lifting Practices." The presentation is designed to provide OSHA staff, drilled shaft contractors and their employees, geotechnical engineers and general contractors with information about drilled shaft construction equipment and methods, general safety practices and recommendations on how to maintain a safe worksite. Through the OSHA and Independent Electrical Contractors (IEC) Alliance, IEC developed "29 CFR 1910 Electrical Standard Subpart S Fact Sheet." The Fact Sheet is designed to provide the electrical industry with information about the updates OSHA made to CFR 29 1910 Subpart S-Electrical Standard. (2007, September)
  • Arc Flash Safety Presentation [PDF - 700 KB]. Through the OSHA and Independent Electrical Contractors (IEC) Alliance, IEC developed "Arc Flash Safety Presentation." The Presentation is designed to provide the electrical industry with information about the updates OSHA made to CFR 29 1910 Subpart S-Electrical Standard. It focuses on topics such as hot work and arc flash. (2007, August)
  • Quick Tips for Identifying Counterfeit Marks [PDF - 43 KB]. Through the OSHA and American Council of Independent Laboratories (ACIL) Alliance, ACIL developed "Quick Tips for Identifying Counterfeit Marks." The Quick Tips provides information on how to identify counterfeit marks and products in the workplace. (2006, September)

Through the OSHA and Association of Occupational Health Professionals (AOHP) Alliance, AOHP developed "Beyond Getting Started: A Resource Guide for Implementing a Safe Patient Handling Program in the Acute Care Setting." The Guide addresses patient handling with the goal of providing the necessary tools for the occupational health professional in healthcare to implement a safe patient handling program. (2006, Summer)
  • Ergo Tips–Hand Pain [PDF - 153 KB]. Through the OSHA and American Dental Association (ADA) Alliance, ADA developed "Ergo Tips–Hand Pain." The document provides information to help dentists, dental hygienists and dental assistants identify common conditions that cause hand pain and ways to prevent hand pain. (2007, August)
  • Ergonomic Guidelines for Common Job Function in the Telecommunications Industry. Through the OSHA and National Telecommunications Safety Panel (NTSP) Alliance, NTSP developed "Ergonomic Guidelines for Common Job Functions in the Telecommunications Industry." The Guidelines provide information to help telecommunications industry employees prevent ergonomic injuries. (2004, March)
  • Ergonomic Guidelines for Common Job Functions within the Telecommunications Industry [PDF - 5.2 MB]. National Telecommunications Safety Panel.
  • Ergonomics for Supervisors: Volume I, An Introductory Manual for the Apparel and Footwear Industries [PDF - 4 MB]. Through the OSHA and American Apparel and Footwear Association (AAFA) Alliance, AAFA developed "Supervisors: Volume I, An Introductory Manual for the Apparel and Footwear Industries." The Manual provides information for employees on how to prevent job-related ergonomic injuries and focuses on the supervisor’s role in identifying problematic situations on the job-site. (2004, Fall)
  • Laptop Computers [PDF - 80 KB]. Through the OSHA and National Telecommunications Safety Panel (NTSP) Alliance, NTSP developed "Laptop Computers." The document provides information to help employees prevent ergonomic injuries when using laptop computers.
  • PMA Ergonomics Checklist [PDF - 31 KB]. Through the OSHA and Precision Metalforming Association (PMA) Alliance, PMA developed "PMA Ergonomics Checklist." The Checklist provides information for employees to use to evaluate and identify ergonomics-related issues in the workplace. (2007, October)

Through the OSHA and Safe Tank Alliance, the Safe Tank participants developed "Fall Prevention for Aboveground Storage Tanks Fact Sheet." The Fact Sheet describes general safety tips to help prevent fall-related injuries to those working in and around aboveground storage tanks. (2006, November)
  • Fall Protection Safety Tips Sheets for Employers and Employees [PDF - 26 KB]. Through the OSHA Alliance Program Construction Roundtable's Fall Protection Workgroup, the Fall Protection Workgroup participants developed "Fall Protection Safety Tips Sheets for Employers and Employees." The Tips Sheets describe general safety tips to help prevent fall-related injuries. (2005, May)
  • Fall Protection. Through the OSHA Alliance Program Construction Roundtable Fall Protection Workgroup, the Sealant Waterproofing and Restoration Institute developed "Fall Protection."   • Help Prevent Eye Injuries Tips Sheet [PDF - 178 KB]. Through the OSHA and Forging Industry Association (FIA) Alliance, FIA developed "Help Prevent Eye Injuries Tips Sheet." The Tips Sheet identifies activities and tasks in the forging industry that may cause an eye injury and provides information on how to help prevent eye injuries. (2008, March)
  • Help Prevent Hand Lacerations Tips Sheet [PDF - 190 KB]. Through the OSHA and Forging Industry Association (FIA) Alliance, FIA developed "Help Prevent Hand Lacerations Tips Sheet." The Tips Sheet addresses reducing the risk of hand lacerations in the forging industry. (2008, March)
