The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT) is accepting applications for fiscal year (FY) 2006 for grants to expand the availability of comprehensive, high quality residential treatment services for pregnant and postpartum women (postpartum refers to the period after childbirth up to 12 months) who suffer from alcohol and other drug use problems, and for their minor children impacted by perinatal and environmental effects of maternal substance use and abuse. Residential Treatment for Pregnant and Postpartum Women (PPW) grants are authorized under Section 508 of the Public Health Service Act, as amended. This announcement addresses Healthy People 2010 focus area 26 (Substance Abuse). SAMHSA’s Services Grants are designed to address gaps in substance abuse services and/or to increase the ability of States, units of local government, federally recognized tribes, tribal organizations, and community- and faith-based organizations to help specific populations or geographic areas with serious, emerging substance abuse problems. SAMHSA intends that its Services Grants result in the delivery of services as soon as possible and no later than 4 months after award. |
