Automated Wreck and Obstruction Information System (Web site) This Web site contains information on approximately 10,000 submerged wrecks and obstructions in the coastal waters of the United States. Information includes latitude and longitude of each feature along with brief historic and descriptive details.

Chart No. 1, United States of America, Nautical Chart Symbols Abbreviations and Terms (Web site). This Web site provides access to a reference publication and graphical depictions of basic chart elements prepared by NOAA's Office of Coast Survey, the Department of Defense, and the National Geospatial Agency. This publication is available for download only (in pdf format).

Coast Pilot (Web site). A series of nine nautical books that cover a variety of important navigation information for coastal and intracoastal waters and the Great Lakes. Available for download only (in pdf and zip formats) at this Web site.

Hydrographic Surveys (Database). This database, maintained by the National Geophysical Data Center (NGDC) in conjunction with the National Ocean Service, comprises the majority of NGDC's area survey holdings and provides extensive survey coverage of the coastal waters and Exclusive Economic Zone of the United States and its territories.

Hydrographic Survey Priorities (Web site). This Web site identifies NOAA's hydrographic survey priorities for general and long-term project scheduling purposes. The graphics also identify the general vintage of hydrographic surveys that have been applied to NOAA nautical charts, and used during data acquisition.

Offline Materials

Nautical Chart Catalogs. These chart catalogs cover NOAA's Coast Survey's charting responsibility area with a suite of 1,000 U.S. nautical chart footprints. For information on how to obtain free nautical chart catalogs, click here.
