The Department of Labor administers and enforces the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) through the Wage and Hour Division of the Employment Standards Administration. The FLSA requires that most employees in the United States be paid at least a minimum wage and overtime pay at time and one-half the regular rate of pay after 40 hours in a workweek. In addition, the law includes child labor and recordkeeping provisions.
