Felipe Mendoza

Photo of Felipe MendozaOn January 22, 2003, Texas native Felipe Mendoza was selected by GSA Administrator Stephen A. Perry to head the agency's Office of Small Business Utilization (OSBU) as its Associate Administrator.

In his role as Associate Administrator of OSBU, Mr. Mendoza is responsible for monitoring and implementing small business policies and managing small business programs that strive to expand opportunities and technological capabilities through increased participation of small, (including small businesses located in HUBZones, minority, veteran and women-owned) businesses in federal government procurement.

Mr. Mendoza originally arrived at GSA in September 2002 and until recently served as the Deputy Associate Administrator in GSA's Office of Enterprise Development. The office was later reorganized as OSBU.

With extensive telecommunications and business experience, Mr. Mendoza previously directed telecom business development for an international fiber optic company in Atlanta, Ga., where he was responsible for developing business relationships with carriers and utility companies throughout South America and Western Europe.

Mr. Mendoza is a graduate of Texas A&M University - Kingsville and spent seven years, including one tour in Vietnam, as an Intelligence officer in the U.S. Army. He is also a recipient of the Bronze Star Medal.

GSA is a centralized federal procurement and property management agency created by Congress to improve government efficiency and help federal agencies better serve the public. It acquires, on behalf of federal agencies, office space, equipment, telecommunications, information technology, supplies and services. GSA, comprised of 14,000 associates, provides services and solutions for the office operations of over 1 million federal workers located in 8,300 government -owned and leased buildings in 1,600 U.S. communities.
