These GOES-10 images below show the track of Hurricane Ike. The National Hurricane Center reported that the storm’s center
made landfall in Galvaston, Texas just west of Houston on September 13 around 0710 UTC.

Tropical System on the Gulf of Mexico
IMAGE D6140: GOES-13 <> Image Type=combine <> 09/13/2008 06:00 UTC.
On September 13, Hurricane Ike made landfall at Galveston, Texas at 0710 UTC with
maximum sustained winds of 110 mph moving to the northwest at 10 mph.

Fires in the America
IMAGE D6140: GOES-11 <> Image Type=combine <> 09/15/2008 00:30 UTC.
This GOES-11 satellite image taken at 0030 UTC on September 15 shows the Lonesome Complex and
the Rattle Wildfire emitting light to moderately dense smoke moving to the north. In northern
California, the Deerhorn Wildfire and Klamath Complex are producing light to moderately dense smoke.
