Subject: Revenue Procedure 97-31
Attached is a copy of the Daily Report for Executives dated June 19,
1997 which summarizes tax administration issues. The report announces
that the Internal Revenue Service released Revenue Procedure 97-31
expanding its new taxpayer identification number matching program to
allow participation by federal agencies.
The Department will apply for participation in the program by submitting two
completed copies of the memorandum of understanding provided in
Publication 2108, Specifications for Federal Agencies, TIN Matching
Program.
Also, attached is an extract from Revenue Procedure 97-31 which explains
the application and acceptance procedures and the requirements for
participation.
