Responsible for ensuring that the NRC meets its statutory responsibility to keep the appropriate congressional committees fully and currently informed with respect to the agency's activities. Provides advice and assistance to the Chairman, Commission, and NRC staff on all NRC relations with Congress and views of Congress toward NRC policies, plans, and activities; maintains liaison with congressional committees and members of Congress on matters of interest to NRC; serves as primary contact point for all NRC communications with Congress, reviewing and concurring in all outgoing correspondence to members of Congress; coordinates NRC internal activities with Congress; plans and develops NRC's legislative program to implement Commission policy objectives; and monitors legislative proposals, bills, and hearings.
