Paperwork Reduction Act Statement

This information is being collected to assist the National Oceanographic Data Center (NODC) in meeting the goals of NOAA Administrative Order #216-101, issued on June 20, 1990, to establish "policies and procedures to ensure that NOAA ocean data collection activities ....... support multiple uses of those data for purposes other than those for which they originally were collected"; and to "increase efficient uses of ocean data" and support "effective management of the resources available to accomplish a variety of NOAA missions as well as to increase the usefulness of these data outside NOAA."

NOAA operates the NODC in accordance with public law.  NODC is collecting this information in order to better understand the uses people have for the data requested.  This information will be used by NODC to help plan what types of data to offer; what data formats, tools, and utilities to provide; and what types of access to provide.   It will also be used in briefings about NODC services.

Public reporting burden for this collection of information is estimated to average 3 minutes per response, including the time for reviewing instructions, searching existing data sources, gathering and maintaining the data needed, and completing and reviewing the collection of information.  Send comments regarding this burden estimate or any other aspects of this collection of information, including suggestions for reducing this burden to NODC at:
