NRC Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards to Meet in Rockville, Maryland, February 3-5

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission's Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards (ACRS) will hold a meeting on February 3-5 in Rockville, Maryland.

On Thursday, February 3, the committee will review: technical aspects of the revised oversight process, including the technical adequacy of current and proposed performance indicators; the proposed final amendment to 10 CFR 50.72 and 50.73; the proposed Regulatory Guide and associated Nuclear Energy Institute Document 96-07, "Guidelines for 10 CFR 50.59 Safety Evaluations;" the proposed revision of the Commission's Safety Goal Policy Statement for reactors; and the proposed response to follow-up questions resulting from the ACRS meeting with the Commission on November 4, 1999.

On Friday, February 4, the committee will review: impediments to increased use of risk-informed regulation and risk-informing 10 CFR Part 50; the proposed final revision of Appendix K to 10 CFR Part 50; and the report on the NRC Safety Research Program.

On the final day of the meeting, the committee will continue its discussion of proposed ACRS reports.

The meeting will be held in Room T-2B3 of the agency's Two White Flint North Building, at 11545 Rockville Pike, beginning at 8:30 each day.
