Mission
The administrative management community enables the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to pursue its biomedical research mission of scientific discovery and advancement of knowledge by serving as a valued partner that provides timely, high quality, and responsive programs and services in a manner that reflects a commitment to excellence and the preservation of the public’s trust.
About OM
The Office of Management (OM) is located within the Office of the Director of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and is responsible for NIH-wide administration and management.
The OM provides:
- leadership, direction, and oversight to diverse organizations at NIH in budget and finance, human resources, management assessment and policy, program integrity, contract, procurement, and logistics, engineering services, safety, space, facility management, support services, and security operations
- a wide range of services to the NIH community -- from ID cards, events management, shuttle services, and child care to lab and radiation safety, medical illustration, scientific equipment, library services (and more)
- financial advisory, policy, accounting, and reporting support to internal and external stakeholders
- diligence for ensuring compliance with legislative and external policy mandates
