A new series of seven lessons, designed to teach fundamental ecological principles using an inquiry-based approach to middle-school students. These lessons were developed in cooperation with the Highline School District and the Wascowitz Outdoor School. Publication of these lessons was funded by a grant from the NOAA Education Office.
 
The SEA Times
Experience life on a research ship! "Science Education Asea" highlights the daily events of the ECOHAB-Pacific Northwest research cruise studying harmful algal blooms in the Pacific Northwest. These web newsletters feature crew and scientists aboard the R/V Melville and detail the joys and frustrations of life at sea.
 
NOAA Teachers at Sea
Get your hands wet! Work side by side with scientists in the field! NOAA Teacher at Sea provides opportunities for teachers to participate in research cruises.
 
The Armada Project
The Armada Project provides K-12 teachers an opportunity to actively participate in ocean science research.
 
National Marine Educators Association (NMEA)
This organization provides resources to teachers through the Bridge website, publishes Current: The Journal of Marine Education and holds an annual conference for marine educators.
 
Northwest Aquatic and Marine Educators (NAME)
The regional chapter of NMEA holds an annual conference, publishes Scuttlebutt and hosts regional educator events. Become a member of this important networking group!
 
Storming the Sound
This annual gathering of Environmental Educators includes workshops, an open forum on regional EE issues and opportunities to network with other educators. Check for 2007 dates for the North, Central and South Puget Sound regions.

NOAA Science Camp
Science Camp Educators are hired each summer to help lead student activities and stations. Applications are available in March/April.
