Chino Mayor Dennis Yates represents the 16 cities of San Bernardino County
that lie within the South Coast Air Basin. Yates is familiar with the
challenges facing the AQMD in improving air quality in this basin and looks
forward to a more active role as the AQMD moves forward with its goals and
objectives.
Dennis Yates was elected to the Chino City Council in 1992 and re-elected in
1994, 1998, and 2002. In 2004 he was elected Mayor of Chino.
Mayor Yates serves as a member of the Omnitrans
Governing Board and San Bernardino Associated Governments (SanBAG). He was the SCAQMD Consultant to former San Bernardino
County 4th District Supervisor Fred Aguiar during Spvr. Aguiar's service on
the SCAQMD Governing Board. He served on many
regional and local
committees. Yates is also past council representative to the Chino
Planning Commission, Chino Valley Fire District Board, Chino Valley Chamber
of Commerce, past Vice Chairman of the Chino Redevelopment Agency, past
Chairman of the Chino Basin Watermaster, and past member of the Chaffey
College subcommittee.
Dennis participates in many community and civic organizations. He
served as President of the Chino Youth Museum which provides youth the
opportunity to explore the history and development of Chino Valley,
President Emeritus of Chino Pop Warner Youth Football, Member/Announcer of
Chino Pumas Youth Track Club, Announcer of Mt. Baldy Conference/Pop Warner,
and member of Inland Community Church.
Yates served in the United States Air Force and is the recipient of the
United States Air Force Commendation Medal. He is a graduate of Pomona
High School and Chaffey College where he majored in business administration.
Yates and his wife, Rosemary, have four children and five grandchildren.
