White House Tours

Public tours of the White House are available for groups of ten or more people. Submit your request through your Member of Congress up to six months in advance.

• If you would like to request a wheelchair, please notify the officer at the Visitors Entrance upon arrival. Visitors in wheelchairs, or with other mobility disabilities, use the main Visitors Entrance and are escorted by ramp from the entrance level to the Ground floor and via by the elevator from the Ground floor to the State floor.

• Submit your request for tours for hearing-impaired groups of ten or more through your Member of Congress. The Visitors Office TDD (telephone device for the deaf) is 202-456-2121.

• Submit your request for tours for visually-impaired groups of ten or more through your Member of Congress. Guide animals are permitted in the White House.

• Submit your request for tours for mentally-impaired groups of ten or more through your Member of Congress.

It is recommended to call at least a day in advance to reserve a wheelchair. Must have a major credit card for deposit ranging from $150 to $250. Rental prices are subject to change.

 

 

Local Access

The National Park Service provides a wheelchair on loan free-of-charge on a first-come, first-served basis for a maximum of two hours at the Lincoln Memorial, Ford's Theatre, Vietnam Veterans Memorial, Korean War Veterans Memorial and other parks. You will be asked to leave a driver's license as security. Please ask a park ranger for assistance.

Smithsonian Museums provide a quick-reference accessibility information for all of the Smithsonian's 16 museums and other public facilities, such as the locations of companion care restrooms, telephones, ATMs, and general information about parking and transportation to the museums.

Tourmobile Sightseeing provide an enjoyable experience while touring Washington, D.C.

Tourmobile provides two types of services for individuals who are mobility challenged. For those individuals who are able to transfer from their wheelchair and can climb two or three steps, we provide our on-demand service. Vehicles used on all Tourmobile tours are equipped with priority seating and wheelchair storage. Individuals may board at any Tourmobile stop on any vehicle.

For those individuals who require a chair lift, we provide our on-call service. Individuals should either make their request for a lift-equipped vehicle with a Tourmobile employee located at any of our ticket booths or on board any of our vehicles at any Tourmobile stop. Your request will be processed and a lift-equipped vehicle will be dispatched to your location. You may get off at the stops of your choice and then arrange a reboarding time with your driver.

To help us serve you better, you may make a reservation for a lift-equipped vehicle when you know your plans in advance or obtain further information about our lift-equipped vehicle service, by calling us at 703-979-0690 between 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. daily except December 25.

Did You Know?
Daniel Chester French's best-known work is the sculpture of a seated Abraham Lincoln at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. Two of his works can be found in President's Park: the Butt-Millet Fountain and the "Victory" statue on top of the First Division Monument.
