TO: Printing and Publishing Officials of the Federal Government
SUBJECT: GPO now offering PKI services for Federal Register submissions
The Government Printing Office (GPO) is now offering services to facilitate the electronic submission of federal agency documents to the Office of the Federal Register (OFR) for publication in the Federal Register.
The additional GPO services are for Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) and public key certificate services, which provide the required electronic authentication and integrity capabilities for files submitted to the OFR by Internet electronic mail (E mail) or the Web. The submission of electronic files to the OFR can provide significant operational benefits to federal agencies by providing for a cost effective and efficient method of submission in conducting routine business or in disaster recovery scenarios.
The OFR advises that agencies should integrate PKI-authenticated electronic document submission into their continuity of operations planning. The use of digital signature technology will enable agencies to carry out legal mandates from alternate locations during natural disasters, flu pandemics, or natural security incidents.
The GPO services and the rates for this PKI service are below.
