Applied  Modern Physics

Our group is home to many exciting activities. These include the quantum information science capabilities of Bose-Einstein condensates and ion traps as well as the capabilities associated with Quantum Key Distribution. In addition there are research efforts in non-invasive, multi-modal brain imaging and related areas. We can also boast the following capabilities:

• optical imaging of neural tissue
• neural modeling together with biologically-inspired computing
• advanced image and data analysis, sensors and networks
• signal processing
• ultra-fast electronics
• high-throughput protein structure determination

With all of these capabilities we seek a sustainable balance of basic research and applied projects from a range of national sponsors.
