CIRCULAR LETTER NO. 492

June 20, 2001

TO: Printing and Publishing Officials of the Federal Government

SUBJECT: GPO Publication of the Printed Version of the Federal Acquisition Regulations

The General Services Administration (GSA) has recently announced that it plans to cease publishing the printed versions of the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and the "Federal Acquisition Circulars" (FACS). The electronic versions of the FAR and its FACs will be available on GSA's Web site. To accommodate users who have a continuing need for an official printed version of the FAR, the Government Printing Office's (GPO) Superintendent of Documents will continue to offer this publication for sale.

Open requisitions for the FAR and FACs which were submitted for Fiscal Year 2001 as well as those currently being submitted for Fiscal Year 2002 will continue to be filled, but on a prorated basis rather than at a rider rate. We anticipate printing a revised basic FAR soon after GSA releases the 2001 version on its Web site in July. Agencies receiving the FAR from GPO will also receive regular printed versions of the FACs.

If your agency no longer requires the same number of printed copies of this product as indicated on your Fiscal Year 2001and Fiscal Year 2002 requisitions, please contact your GPO Account Representative to amend or cancel your requisitions. If you have any questions, please call your Account Representative or 202-512-0238.

Sincerely,

JIM BRADLEY
Director, Customer Services
