TO: Printing and Publishing Officials of the Federal Government
SUBJECT: Changes in the Cost to Publish in the Federal Register and the Code of Federal Regulations
This is to inform you of changes in the page rates charged for publishing in the Federal Register and the Code of Federal Regulations effective January 1, 1999. Most of the Government Printing Office's (GPO) pre-press work is eliminated when processing agency submissions of fully coded and validated documents that meet requirements for input to GPO's MicroComp composition software. Because of this, we will offer a special rate which will be in effect until GPO becomes fully operational with SGML-structured documents. At that time, the higher rate* for files not SGML- structured will be placed in effect due to the conversions that will be required to arrive at SGML-compliant documents. A circular letter will be issued in advance of implementation of the higher rates.
Effective January 1, 1999, the following rates will be implemented:
If you require assistance in making the conversion to more economical formats, or have any other technical questions, please contact the Graphic Systems Development Division on 202-512-0676. For other questions, please contact your GPO Account Representative.
Sincerely,
ROBERT G. COX
Superintendent,
Departmental Account Representative Division
