Circular Letter No. 373

December 28, 1993

TO: Printing and Publishing Officials of the Federal Government

SUBJECT: Access and Use of GPO Computer Systems

The Government Printing Office (GPO) provides access to its Procurement Information and Control System (PICS) and Printing Cost Calculating System (PCCS) for authorized Federal Government customers at no charge. These computer systems are located in GPO's Central Office in Washington, DC, and there is a toll-free number for the use of out-of-town customers.

Print orders on term contracts can now be produced directly from PICS. The system enters most of the standard data and edits other items. The orders can then be produced on either continuous carbon interleaved forms or single sheets for use in laser printers; both forms are available from GPO. Ordering information is as follows:

DescriptionProperty NumberEstimated Cost*
GPO Form 2511-B (Continuous Forms)517186$10.70 per 100
GPO Form 2511 (Single Sheets)501344$3.70 per 100
*Estimate based on current cost.

Using the PICS system to produce your print orders will save time and help increase efficiency. It should not interfere with your internal operations or the way you do business with GPO. If you would like more information on how to obtain access to PICS and PCCS, or how to order the above forms, contact your GPO Account Representative or Regional Printing Procurement Office Manager.

Sincerely,

ROBERT G. COX
Superintendent,
Departmental Account Representative Division
