Circular Letter No. 550

February 20, 2004

TO: Printing and Publishing Officials of the Federal Government

SUBJECT: Rider Orders for Emergency Response Guidebook 2004

The Government Printing Office (GPO) is now accepting rider orders for the Department of Transportation (DOT) publication entitled Emergency Response Guidebook 2004 (ERG2004). ERG2004 was developed jointly by DOT and the Canadian and Mexican governments for use by firefighters, police, and other emergency services personnel who may be the first to arrive at the scene of a transportation accident involving hazardous materials. It is primarily a guide to aid first responders in quickly identifying the specific or generic classification of the materials involved and protecting themselves and the general public during the initial response phase.

Although the exact rider rate has not yet been determined, your requisition prior to production allows the printing of these copies during the regular press run. This results in substantial savings, which we are then able to pass along to you. For your budgeting purposes, we estimate that the rider rate will be between $2 and $3 for each copy. (Please note that the rider rate applies to single destination, local delivery orders only. Mailing costs, if incurred, will comprise an additional charge.)

To take advantage of the rider rate, please forward your requisitions (Standard Form 1) to GPO by March 5, 2004. Note: ERG2004 is published in English, Spanish, and French; if you do not specify a version you will receive the English edition. Please also specify DOT requisition number 4-71079 and GPO jacket number 305-896 on your requisition.

If you have any questions, or require additional information, please contact your GPO Account Representative or call the Departmental Account Representative Division on 202-512-0238.

If you have any questions, or require additional information, please contact your GPO Account Representative.

Sincerely,

JIM BRADLEY
