Welcome to the Saint
Lawrence Seaway Development Corporation (SLSDC) public
affairs web page. The SLSDC and Canada's St. Lawrence
Seaway Authority jointly operate the Great Lakes St.
Lawrence Seaway System. This 2,300 mile stretch of water
encompasses the St. Lawrence River and the five Great
Lakes. It extends from the Gulf of St. Lawrence at the
Atlantic Ocean to the western end of Lake Superior, and
carries ships between the Atlantic Ocean and the Great
Lakes through an intricate series of locks and dams.
