Columbine Pass - $12.50
 
For Disabled Colorado Residents
The Columbine Pass offers a discounted pass for disabled Colorado residents that is transferable between vehicles.  The Columbine pass is available by application only with proof of eligibility.

The Columbine Pass will allow permanently and totally disabled individuals to:

  • Purchase an entrance pass for $12.50 annually instead of the regular vehicle cost of $60.
  • Transfer the pass between vehicles, allowing the Columbine Pass holder and other vehicle occupants park entrance. The pass holder must be present for the pass to be valid.
  • Visit over 41 state parks for one calendar year, January through December. (Please note: An additional $3 annual fee will be collected at Cherry Creek State Park for the Water Basin Authority.)
 
Who is eligible for a Columbine Pass?
To qualify for a Columbine Pass, the applicant must be a Colorado resident and provide acceptable documentation of a total and permanent disability from one of the following:

  • A photocopy of a TPQY or Benefit Verification form from the Social Security Administration (obtained by calling 1-800-772-1213 and asking the operator for your TPQY); or
  • A photocopy of a letter from the Veterans Administration indicating a permanent and total disability (call the VA at 1-800-827-1000 for information); or
  • A photocopy of a Division of Workers’ Compensation "Final Admission of Liability" form indicating permanent total disability; or
  • A signed physician’s letter attesting that there is a physical or mental impairment which prevents gainful employment and that the impairment is reasonably certain to continue throughout the person’s lifetime.
To avoid time delays in processing your application, the above documentation should be current and issued within the past 12 months.
 

How can I get a Columbine Pass?
The Columbine Pass application may be downloaded as a word document. Applications are also available at the three region offices of Colorado State Parks and the Division headquarters in Denver – not at the individual parks or through any pass concessionaires. Columbine Pass applications can be obtained and will be accepted by mail or in person at these locations:

Upon completion of the Columbine Pass application -- including documentation of "total and permanent disability" from either the Social Security Administration, the Veterans Administration, the Colorado Division of Workers’ Compensation or a physician and payment of the $12.50 fee, the Columbine Pass will be mailed to an approved applicant within 30 days.

Applicants may use the pink copy of the application form for park entrance for up to 30 days from date of application or until the pass has been approved and processed. Downloaded applications are not valid, only the pink copied application forms that can be obtained from the park offices can be used as temporarily passes.  Candidates whose application has been denied will receive written notification within 20 working days of application receipt by the Division. Any fees paid will be refunded.
