ATSDR Makes Available Online a Spanish-Language Version of its Public Health Assessment Course

ATLANTA - The Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR), a public health agency of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, today announced the availability online of its Public Health Assessment (PHA) Course in Spanish.
The PHA course can be accessed on the Internet at this address:
http://www.atsdr.cdc.gov/es/training/phap/This learning site will help ATSDR's community partners to better understand what ATSDR does, how ATSDR does it, and what the agency's community partners can do.
The English-language version of the course became ATSDR's first interactive online learning Web application in October 2002 when it was made available for public comment. The English version will soon be available in three modules for continuing education (CE) accreditation (Continuing Medical Education (CME), Continuing Nursing Education (CNE), and Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES). The first of these CE modules will be released in another month.

ATSDR, a federal public health agency of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, evaluates the human health effects of exposure to hazardous substances. Established by Congress in 1980 under the Superfund law, ATSDR conducts public health assessments at each of the sites on the EPA National Priorities List, as well as other sites when petitioned. Headquartered in Atlanta, ATSDR is staffed by more than 400 health professionals including epidemiologists, physicians, toxicologists, engineers and public health educators.
