Cutting edge technology, complex intelligence gathering tools, multifaceted investigative techniques…. These are just a few of the tools that enable the ICE Office of Intelligence to set the standard for federal law enforcement/intelligence agencies. The dedicated men and women within the ICE Office of Intelligence play a unique and key role in supporting the ICE Office of Investigations, the Department of Homeland Security, the Intelligence Community and federal law enforcement agencies.
Since the inception of ICE, the Office of Intelligence has made great strides in its efforts to fully engage in all aspects of the Department of Homeland Security’s areas of responsibility. The Office of Intelligence has integrated the intelligence components of the former Immigration and Naturalization Service and the U.S. Customs Service into a robust force that supports the enforcement needs of ICE executive management and operational field units.
On a given day, the Office of Intelligence receives over 1,800 classified reports or messages directed to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Actionable intelligence derived from this reporting is processed and disseminated daily to appropriate Headquarters and field personnel. In 2005, the Office of Intelligence developed and issued over 4,500 intelligence reports in support of the ICE/DHS mission.
The ICE Office of Intelligence manages the full platform of intelligence functions within ICE and its field operations including programmatic oversight, budget, policy and security. This includes ensuring that intelligence developed or received, is analyzed and disseminated to ICE executive management and operational units as it pertains to homeland security, infrastructure protection, and the illegal movement of people, money and cargo entering, transiting, or operating within our nations’ borders.
