Teachers Resources
The Teachers Resources web site houses several interactive tools and resources for educators, students and parents. The curriculum search tool facilitates integrating Fed education materials into the classroom by aligning materials with National Standards.
 
 
Lessons to Complement Children’s Literature
Several lesson plans have been developed to coincide with existing literature for children ages 5 and up. Each lesson correlates to economic and/or personal finance concepts and enables teachers to share these topics within a reading component. One of the latest lessons is based on the story called Saturday Sancocho, by Leyla Torres, and allows students to explore how bartering is done in Central and South America as they listen to a story and participate in a trading activity to illustrate money's advantages over bartering.
Teaching Tips Tied to the Economy
This series provides ways for teachers to integrate current issues and research into their classrooms using Federal Reserve research. Extension activities and questions for classroom discussion are also provided within each instructional guide. One of the most recent releases focuses on the factors that contribute to food price inflation and examines the inflation of relative costs in farm commodities, labor, energy and overall marketing.
Moments in Money and Economics
In this series of podcasts, Philadelphia Fed Economic Education Advisor Andrew Hill, Ph.D., discusses topics in personal finance and economics in brief audio clips. New podcasts are posted monthly and feature information about classroom resources and programs for teachers, including the Great Depression curriculum and lessons tied to the new $5 bill.
