EXPORT ASSISTANCE

FOR U.S. AEROSPACE COMPANIES

1. Aerospace Team, Office of Aerospace and Automotive Industries, U.S. Department of Commerce:

The Aerospace Team provides a couple of services to assist U.S. aerospace companies with their international trade ventures:

Industry Liaison - The Aerospace Team maintains close liaison with U.S. aerospace firms to focus and construct programs that enhance the U.S. industry's competitiveness overseas.

Business Counseling - The Aerospace Team provides business counseling to help companies penetrate new markets, increase market share, obtain country market information, and/or make contacts overseas.

Advocacy - In cooperation with the Department's Advocacy Center, the aerospace advocacy program provides timely responses to the needs of U.S. aerospace firms in international competitions.

2. U.S. Commercial Service, U.S. Department of Commerce:

Aerospace Products Literature Centers (APLCs) - APLCs represent U.S. aerospace companies at trade shows worldwide by distributing their product or service literature and identifying prospective customers. The service is a low-cost but effective means for small- and medium-sized firms to present their products or services to the international marketplace.

Aerospace Executive Trade Missions - Participants in executive trade missions represent small, medium, and large companies. Overseas missions provide aerospace executives access to market opportunities through formal introductions and direct contact with foreign government leaders, foreign industry representatives, and U.S. embassy personnel.

3. Trade Information Center, U.S. Department of Commerce:

The Trade Information Center (TIC) at the U.S. Department of Commerce provides basic export counseling, shipping process/documentation and country specific counseling.  The TIC is available Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Eastern at 1-800-USA-TRAD(E) (1-800-872-8723), and by internet at http://www.trade.gov/td/tic/

4. Sources of Federal and State Export Assistance on a Local Level:

The U.S. Department of Commerce, other Federal Agencies, and State governments provide a wide range of export assistance for small and medium sized U.S. companies. The Trade Information Center (TIC) provides a listing of these resources by state. Visit the TIC's website, noted above, select Trade Offices Nationwide, select View the National Export Directory (NED) by State. At this web listing you can find by state: the nearest Export Assistance Center (EAC), U.S. Department of Commerce; Small Business Administration (SBA) and Small Business Development Centers (SBDC's); Women and Minority Business Development assistance programs (federal and state); Export and Import Bank representatives (EXIM); and Foreign Trade Zones (FTZ's).

5. Advocacy Center, U.S. Department of Commerce:

The Advocacy Center of the U.S. Department of Commerce provides timely responses to the needs of U.S. aerospace firms in international competitions.

Advocacy of the U.S. Department of Commerce provides assistance to companies that need to work with and through foreign governments or government-owned corporations in some way. Assistance can include a visit to a key foreign official by a high-ranking U.S. government official; direct support by U.S. officials (including Commerce and State Department officers) stationed at U.S. embassies; and coordinated action by U.S. government agencies to provide maximum assistance. 6. MyExports.com

Another option is to register for free at MyExports.com is an export referral service provided through a public-private partnership between the U.S. Department of Commerce and Global Publishers, LLC. This publication used to be known as the U.S. Exporters Yellow Pages.  The online version is marketed internationally to foreign buyers, and is searchable by keyword.  Registered members will also have access to foreign buyer trade leads.  To register, use Registration Code TD-AER for aerospace companies.

7.  BuyUSA.com On-line Matchmaker:
