Description: Provides access to the scientific data underlying the medicinal use of herbs. Each herb is identified and listed by scientific name (also known as the Latin binomial) and common name and can be searched by either listing. The database contains information on scores of herbs and other natural substances commonly used in alternative and complimentary medicine, such as black cohosh, chamomile, St. John's Wort, and tea tree oil. Each record contains evidence for efficacy (human data), warnings, methods of preparation, formulas/blends, evidence of activity, and related links. HerbMed is a project of the Alternative Medicine Foundation, Inc.
