Career Development Awards

K-01 Mentored Research Scientist Development Award: For researchers or health-professionals with doctorates with demonstrated research experience or clear potential for highly productive independent research who require additional supervised research experience. PA-00-019

K-08 Mentored Clinical Scientist Development Award: For individuals with a clinical doctoral degree or equivalent who require additional supervised research experience. PA-00-003

K-07 Academic Career Award: Provides up to five years support for faculty who have a clinical or research doctoral degree with potential to develop academic expertise in clinical alcohol research. PA-00-070

K-23 Mentored Patient-Oriented Research Career Development Award: For clinicians with varying levels of research experience who require additional study and supervised experience in patient-oriented research. PA-00-004

K-24 Mid Career Investigator Award in Patient-Oriented Research: For outstanding clinical scientists who need a period of intensive research focus to enhance their patient-oriented research and mentoring of beginning researchers. PA-00-005

K-25 Mentored Quantitative Research Career Development Award: For scientists and engineers with little or no biomedical or behavioral research experience who are committed to establishing themselves in careers as independent biomedical or behavioral investigators. PA-99-087

National Research Service Awards (NRSA)

F-30 NRSAs for Individual MD/PhD Fellows. Supports alcohol-related research training for students enrolled in an approved M.D./Ph.D. program, accepted in a related scientific Ph.D. program, and supervised by a mentor in that discipline. PA-99-089

F-31 NRSAs for Individual Pre-Doctoral Fellows. Supports research training relevant to basic and applied research in alcohol abuse and alcoholism for students enrolled in a program leading to a research doctorate or a combined clinical and research degree such as M.D./Ph.D. PA-00-125 (general), PA-00-069 (minority), PA-00-068 (disability)

F-32 NRSAs for Individual Post-Doctoral Fellows. Supports full time research training in alcohol abuse and alcoholism for individual who has received a Ph.D., M.D., D.O., or equivalent doctoral degree. Applicant must be sponsored by an active investigator in the area of the proposed research who will directly supervise the candidate’s research. PA-00-104

F-33 NRSA for Senior Fellowships. For experienced scientists to acquire training for major change in their research career or to enhance their scientific background through obtaining new capabilities to conduct alcohol related research. PA-00-131

Loan Repayment Programs

L30 Loan Repayment Program for Clinical Researchers (NIAAA- alcohol related research qualifies) To provide for the repayment of the educational loan debt of qualified health professionals who contractually agree to conduct qualified clinical research.

L40 Loan Repayment Program for Pediatric Research (NIAAA - alcohol related research qualifies) To provide for the repayment of the educational loan debt of qualified health professionals who contractually agree to conduct research directly related to diseases, disorders, and other conditions in children.

L60 Loan Repayment Program for Health Disparities (NIAAA in conjunction with the National Center on Minority Health and Health Disparities) To provide for repayment of the educational loan debt of qualified health professionals who contractually agree to conduct qualified minority health disparities research or other health disparities research.
