What is JASON? JASON provides inspirational connections to great explorers and great events through core curriculum units and a global online community for students, teachers, and scientists.

Great Explorers and Great Events

Have you ever imagined flying directly into a hurricane?
Or submerging into the darkest depths of Earth's oceans?
Have you ever wanted to join a real science mission, or create your own video for a global online science fair?

Welcome to The JASON Project, your gateway to adventure.

Operation: Resilient Planet

Operation: Resilient Planet takes students to Earth's critical ecosystems to investigate nature’s strategies for regeneration, learn ecosystem management, and understand their responsibility for protecting our ecological future.

Research invasive species in Lake Michigan, snorkel with vibrant marine life in the Gulf of Mexico, examine the health of Chesapeake Bay, study near-pristine ecosystems in the Pacific Ocean, and help protect whales’ habitats in Massachusetts Bay.

Operation: Monster Storms, the first in JASON's new curriculum line, is a nine-week core unit for weather. Designed for 5th-8th grade classrooms - with the flexibility to adapt to higher or lower grades - it covers key National Science Education Standards for Physical Science, Earth Science, and Science and Personal Social Perspectives.

Operation: Monster Storms transports classrooms to the center of Earth's most extreme weather events.

Fly into the eye of a hurricane or chase tornados through Tornado Alley.

Learn how powerful storms form and how cutting-edge
technology is used to better understand and forecast weather.

Get Involved! The JASON Project has the tools and resources to bring real-world exploration into the classroom and help make science a learning adventure. Register for JASON. It's free!

With a rumble and a roar as loud as a freight train, a monster tornado approaches your position. As it nears, you drop atmospheric and video probes in its path and then flee to safety.

Sound like fun?

JASON Works! JASON curriculum and graduate courses have been independently evaluated by Center for Children and Technology and SRI International.
CODiE Winner!
2008 CODiE Award Winner for Best Online Instructional Solution

Connecting students with great explorers and great events to motivate them to learn science works. We see it every day at JASON. Multi-year independent evaluations (Center for Children and Technology) indicate that JASON curriculum has had a positive impact on students' science learning, positively influenced their perceptions of scientists and of becoming scientists, and helped diverse students grasp a deeper understanding of complex scientific content, concepts and technologies.
