I'm having trouble viewing a webcast. Can you help?

Answer: Be sure you have downloaded the free Basic RealOne Player
See also other tips for watching a webcast.

What version of Realplayer can I use?

Answer:Any RealPlayer 6.0+ or RealOne player.

The RealOne Player is only a 14-day trial and I'll have to eventually pay. Is there another free player I can use?

Answer:Be sure to download the free basic RealOne video player and not the 14-day trial. You can access the free Basic Player by on the right-hand column of the Real.com website:www.real.com/realone/index.html?src=player_redct

Can I use Windows Media to watch the webcasts?

Answer:If your operating system is running Windows Media, you will still have to download the free RealOne video player . HUD does not encode video for Windows Media at this time.

How can I register for a webcast?

Answer:There's no need to register for a webcast. Just click on the link and watch.
I heard a webcast has been scheduled but I don't see it listed on your website.
Answer:Notices of upcoming webcasts usually appear on the webcast schedule about one week before they air. Live links for the show appear about 30 minutes before the show starts. Find out more about viewing a webcast.

If I miss a webcast can I get a transcript or view it later?

Answer: HUD does not typically make transcripts available, but if you missed the webcast and would like to view it now, please visit the archives. Shows are usually archived by the next business day.

Can I ask questions during the program?

Answer: Usually, a phone number is posted during the early part of the webcast so that you can call in questions. You may also e-mail questions to an e-mail box that's available during the show. That e-mail address is posted on our website during the show. Please note: For phone-in questions, because shows are live broadcast via satellite and the web, there can be a significant time delay (up to a few minutes) between what is taking place live and what you are seeing on your screen. Please listen to the person on the phone and not the webcast to determine when to ask your question.

Are materials for the webcast posted ahead of time?

Answer: If materials for the webcast are available, sometimes they are posted. If no materials are posted, please contact the program office associated with the webcast.
Can I download the webcast to my hard drive or CD to watch at my convenience?
Answer: Currently, HUD does not make the entire video file available for downloading. For the average user, video files are very large and downloading them to a PC could take a very long time and could eventually cause the computer to crash. You can watch the archive. Archives usually remain on the site for at least one year.

How should my IT staff configure our firewall so that I can receive webcasts?

Answer: If IT security allows it, open TCP port 554 on your firewall.

If this request is denied and you have an http proxy server, you can stream through that. Inside the RealOne player under view => preferences you will find some proxy settings. Put in your proxy server and port and then go to the transport tab. Make sure you check on "use http only" while checking off all other transport selections.

If you are still having problems, please contact us.
