USDOC-METI Joint Initiative

In March 2006, the U.S. Department of Commerce and the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry launched the Joint DOC-METI Initiative for Enhanced U.S.-Japan Cooperation on IPR Protection and Enforcement and other Global Issues. The Initiative was revised in January 2007 to reflect progress made and outline some new areas for cooperation. Areas of focus include intellectual property protection and enforcement, standards and conformity assessment, export controls, clean development and climate issues, and information technology security.
