ASUNTOS RELACIONADOS CON LAS NORMAS PARA EL CONSUMIDOR

Quiénes somos ...

La División de las Normas para el Consumidor es la responsable de desarrollar las normas para el consumidor en relación con las entidades reguladas por la Comisión—las operadoras de servicios de telecomunicaciones, la radio y la televisión, las comunicaciones inalámbricas, las compañías de satélite y de cable— así como otra entidades sujetas a la Ley de Protección del Consumidor de Servicios Telefónicos (TCPA, por sus siglas en inglés), la Ley de Control de Pornografía y Mercadeo No Solicitados (CAN-SPAM, por sus siglas en inglés) y otros estatutos sobre los cuales la FCC tiene autoridad. A través de la elaboración de normas y disposiciones y a través de comentarios acerca de las medidas creadas por otras Oficinas y Despachos, la División garantiza que se tengan en cuenta los intereses del consumidor en todas las iniciativas de la Comisión para establecer sus normas. La División está a cargo específicamente de emitir disposiciones para resolver quejas sobre cambios de proveedores de servicios de telecomunicaciones hechos sin autorización (slamming), de dirigir el establecimiento de normas con respecto al slamming, la facturación veraz, las llamadas telefónicas de mercadeo y la publicidad por fax; y de observar las preguntas informales y las quejas, para identificar las tendencias que afectan a los consumidores.
