HoloGlobe: Earth at Night
This is one of a series of animations that were produced to be part of the narrated video shown in the HoloGlobe exhibit at the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History and the Earth Today exhibit at the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum.
A rotating globe showing the visible light sources on the Earth's surface as measured by the DMSP satellites during the 1980s. White dots represent city lights, red dots represent forest fires, and yellow dots represent oil well fires.
