  • DIRECTOR OF USA FREEDOM CORPS TO SPEAK AT “MAKE A DIFFERENCE DAY” EVENT.  Deputy Assistant to the President and Director of USA Freedom Corps Desiree T. Sayle will address “Make A Difference Day” volunteers and participate in the service project taking place at The Frederick Douglass House in Washington, D.C., on Saturday, October 23, 2004. This will be one of thousands of projects across America, as a part of “Make A Difference Day,” which is now in its 14th year….

  • PRESIDENT BUSH PROCLAIMS NATIONAL CHARACTER COUNTS WEEK, 2004.
    President George W. Bush this week issued a proclamation for National Character Counts Week, October 17 - 23, 2004. The proclamation states, “Individuals have the power to do much good, and great societies are built by knowing the difference between right and wrong. People of character strengthen our country through their daily actions. To help children fulfill their potential and build a more hopeful future for our Nation, we must continue to encourage and support the character development of our young people and support the institutions that give direction and purpose: our families, our schools, and our faith-based and community organizations…."

Huber, 65, is an active volunteer with Olivia’s House, a grief and loss center for children in York County, Pennsylvania….
