USA Freedom Corps Director Henry Lozano Addresses National Conference on Volunteering and Service
More than 4,500 leaders gathered in Atlanta June 1-3, 2008, for the annual National Conference on Volunteering and Service. The conference is the nation’s largest gathering of service and volunteering leaders. Keynote speakers included USA Freedom Corps Director Henry Lozano, Corporation for National and Community Service CEO David Eisner, former Georgia Senator Sam Nunn, former Secretary of Defense William Cohen, Peace Corps Director Ron Tschetter, U.S. Representative John Lewis, and Mayor of Atlanta Shirley Franklin.

The President’s Volunteer Service Award - Become a Certifying Organization
Volunteer recognition is one of the most important components of effective volunteer management. The President’s Volunteer Service Award is issued by the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation on behalf of President Bush to recognize the best in American spirit, and to encourage all Americans to improve their communities through volunteer service and civic participation. The Award is given to individuals, families, and groups that have demonstrated outstanding volunteer service and civic participation over the course of a 12-month period.

President Bush Recognizes Phoenix Youth for Dedication to Volunteer Service
President George W. Bush will present the President’s Volunteer Service Award to Tamara Skinner when he arrives in Phoenix, Arizona, on Tuesday, May 27, 2008. Skinner, 12, is a volunteer with Project SHINE and Church for the Nations.
