The theme for National Volunteer Week 2007, which runs from April 15th to 21st, is "Inspire By Example." USA Freedom Corps is encouraging all Americans to participate in a service-related activity during National Volunteer Week and National & Global Youth Service Day (April 20th to 22nd).

"America the Beautiful" Volunteer Pass

The U.S. Departments of Agriculture and Interior are offering an annual pass valued at $80, for free, in exchange for 500 hours of volunteer service on public lands. The Volunteer Pass admits pass holder and passengers onto federal lands free of charge. The pass also covers standard amenity fees at these same locations.

Take Pride in America
2007 National Awards

Take Pride in America is seeking nominations of individuals, companies or civic groups that have demonstrated a commitment to stewardship of America’s public lands. Every year, Take Pride presents the National Awards to individuals and groups who have volunteered their time and talent to our federal, state, and local public lands and waterways. Applications are due by noon on April 30, 2007.

President George W. Bush presented the President’s Volunteer Service Award to Alan Petz, 22, upon arrival at the airport in Gulfport, Mississippi, on Thursday, March 1, 2007. Petz, an Airman in the United States Air Force, is a volunteer with Hands On Gulf Coast.
