National Volunteer Week 2007

During National Volunteer Week 2007, the Administration celebrated the spirit of service in America and honored those who demonstrate the great character of our country through acts of kindness, generosity, and compassion. USA Freedom Corps mobilized numerous Cabinet Secretaries, and other senior officials throughout the Federal agencies, to participate in volunteer service activities and volunteer recognition throughout the week.

National and Global Youth Service Day 2007

There are thousands of National & Global Youth Service Day volunteer events taking place April 20-22. Youth, businesses, families, schools, individuals and local organizations plan activities that will serve and improve their communities. Millions of young people are introduced to volunteering on National & Global Youth Service Day and are inspired to begin a lifetime of service. Other youth are recognized for their year-round contributions.

New CNCS Report Shows
Volunteering Strong in America

“Volunteering in America: 2007 State Trends and Rankings in Civic Life," a report that gives a detailed breakdown of America’s volunteering habits and patterns by state and region, was released during National Volunteer Week by the Corporation for National and Community Service. The report found that 61.2 million Americans volunteered in 2006 – a figure that approaches historic highs.
