Background
Bob Iwamoto earned a B.S. in biology from the University of Hawaii, an M.S. in zoology from Washington State University and a Ph.D. in fisheries from the University of Washington. He began his fisheries career as a geneticist at the University of Washington, and then moved on to the private sector with positions in research and management of aquaculture operations in Washington and Hawaii. He joined the NWFSC in 1992 to assist with PIT-tag research and moved on to juvenile salmonid system survival studies in the Snake River. Since 1994, he has held various management positions within the Center.

Current Research
Bob serves as director for operations, management and information for the entire Center. His research interests lie with salmonid and marine fish enhancement research for both rebuilding and sustainable fisheries goals.
