Background
Vanessa Tuttle graduated from the Florida Institute of Technology with a B.S. in marine biology. She worked as a NOAA Fisheries Groundfish Observer in Alaska for three and a half years and then spent a year working as an observer looking for turtles in the Gulf of Mexico. After that, she worked for Auburn University as a research assistant studying red snapper. Vanessa joined the FRAM Division in Seattle in January 2002.

Current Research
Vanessa splits her time between the Survey Team and the At-sea Hake Observer Program. Her survey duties include going to sea and helping to collect data and assisting in the implementation of FSCS, a new database system for the collection of fisheries data at sea. Her At-sea Hake Observer Program duties include all aspects of training, in-season advising and final debriefing of observers and the collected data.
