Background
Jim Myers is a research fishery biologist in the Conservation Biology Division. In his position, he serves as a member of the Lower Columbia and Upper Willamette River Technical Recovery Team. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Washington in 1990. Prior to joining the NWFSC in 1995, Jim was a research fellow at Stirling University in Scotland.

Current Research
Current research projects include: furthering Technical Recovery Team efforts by characterizing existing and historical populations, establishing viability guidelines for recovery, and evaluating proposed recovery actions and studying the effects of inbreeding and outbreeding on salmon to provide information that may be useful in evaluating the effects of artificial propagation programs.
