Background
John began working for FRAM in 2004 as a member of the survey team. Before joining NOAA Fisheries as part of he Hawaii Longline Observer Program in June 1998, he worked as a groundfish observer in Alaska for two and a half years. He earned a A.A. from Mira Costa College and a B.S. in Aquatic Biology from UC Santa Barbara.
John spends the field season working aboard chartered commercial fishing vessels. He conducts west coast groundfish surveys as a deck biologist and chief scientist
